Quake News
At the top of anyone’s news agenda right now is the tragedy unfolding in Christchurch. Far from standing dumbstruck, Kiwi's up and down the country have been lending a hand in one way or another. Whether in person donating cash by phone or rallying around to adopt a "Christchurch Family", New Zealanders are out in force getting stuck in.
The Dental Hygiene Clinic is still reeling from tales of Christchurch based patients who have escaped the South Island with barely the clothes on their back. One patient in fact packed three blankets, in "survival" mode, on leaving her stricken home, only realising on arrival in Auckland that she probably didn't need three.
Mary Mowbray has donated dental hygiene product, and has been rallying the troops, or rather the girls; as she spurs on friends and family alike to help collect and donate much needed clothing for victims of the quakes who have arrived in Auckland with so little. In fact Meghan's netball team have scoured their wardrobes for clothes and donated a bundle.
Charity Auction
The Great Guide Dog auction picked up further momentum; with huge support from media including the New Zealand Herald. Hundreds of items were available for bidding, all raising funds towards the fantastic cause of training much needed guide dogs for blind people. DHC donated a cosmetic teeth whitening session which was won by one happy lady!
Grab One
DHC's Grab One Teeth Whitening initiative was a great success, bringing plenty of new patients through the clinic. Many were grateful to receive the oral health education tour from Mary and many gladly converted to full hygiene clients.
The cost of teeth whitening has now become more affordable so the Auckland Teeth Whitening Website is up and running so make sure you check this out. http://www.aucklandteethwhitening.co.nz
